Mia Bella Candle Home Business - Tanya Hommes Scent Sations Diamond Distributor

Our Story

Hi!  We are Tanya and Brian Hommes.  A husband and wife team, entrepreneurs, and life-long learners.

We have a beautiful vivacious 8 year old daughter and a charming 6 year old son.  We are soul mates, and we delight in each day as we experience life with our children.

A month and a half after our son was born I was diagnosed with a pre-leukemia condition called Mylodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).  This pre-cancer of the blood required immediate treatment before it turned into leukemia.  I was numb.  I was a healthy, active, young woman with 2 small children and a wonderful husband.

How could this
be happening?

The only quick and successful cure for this illness, before it turned into leukemia, at my age, was a bone marrow/stem cell transplant.  We immediately began checking both of my brothers to see if they were a match to me so one of them could be my donor.  God was Great!!  Both of my brothers were a perfect match.  Very Rare!

Unfortunately, there was not a treatment center where I lived so I had to move 2 hours away from my husband, 2 children, family, and friends for approximately 4 months.

On the day of transplant, June 24, 2004 (my new birthday and my twin brother's anniversary), he lay hooked up to a machine for 5 hours to collect his stem cells.  Several hours later, the doctors delivered the stem cells to my room and it was time to put them into my body and let them slowing take over. The transplant takes place like a blood transfusion and it was done in a matter of 15 minutes.  Now it was a matter of time to see if my new life would begin.

The picture to the right of this page is one of me, at 100 days following my bone marrow transplant (June 2004).

Then, I was released to an apartment nearby the hospital for follow-up appointments.  I remained at the apartment for another 3 months with my mother as my primary caregiver so my husband could keep stability with the children at home. I looked forward to weekly visits with my husband and children, even though it was only for short periods of time.  While at the apartment, I rested, ate a very restricted diet, and did some walking to maintain some strength, and tried to remain germ free.  I did get to see my husband and children at least once a week and on the weekends as long as everyone was germ free. Thank goodness for the internet, web cams, and care pages.

It's been 5 years and I am in still in remission!   Currently, I am trying to eliminate some of my immune system suppressent medications, regain my strength,  and gain energy so I can start living my new "normal" lifestyle.

I had a rewarding career in education as a second grade teacher.  I enjoyed teaching and challenging the children that entered my classroom each year. Now I have a new outlook on life:  LIVESTRONG and live life to the fullest. Life is to short, live it up!

Well, here is how we got started.

My sister-in-law (Brian's sister) ran a very successful fundraiser to help us with the upcoming medical expenses from the bone marrow/stem cell transplant.  It is because of this successful fundraiser and the great products she sold for the fundraiser that we decided to become a work at home family with a candle business.

We wanted to do something in an industry that is fast-growing, recession proof, and that people use and want.  We also wanted something that would provide an on-going residual income.  You know, something that would pay me over and over for the work that I did one time!

Along this journey, we had a strong entrepreneurial spirit that began to drive our passion for success and we also had a growing fascination with the Internet, its potential, and the idea that one could make an incredible income online while at home in your favorite pair of blue jeans or your most comfortable pj's!

We also began to realize the power of owning our own business.  It empowers you to take control of your time, make decision based on your values, and design a lifestyle through your definition of success.

We discovered what works for us and that's what is presented here.  Please understand that we don't offer get rich quick schemes.  While you can make money fast, it takes effort, continuous learning, and consistency.  It is the only way you'll get what you truly want.

We loved the many different options to earn an income with our home business.  We didn't just have to build a team of others or just do home parties.  We could work our business to fit our needs and our lifestyle!  If you are interested in home parties, fundraising, team building or a combination of the three,  we have done it all and we can help you, too!
